Rector’s Message

The Technological University (Thanlyin) has strong history in Technical environment of Myanmar. It was established since 1986 as Technical Training Institute (TTI). And, it was upgraded as Government Technical Institute (GTI) in 1995. Then, in 1999, the school was upgraded to a Government Technological College (GTC). Moreover, it was promoted as Technological University (Thanlyin) in 2007. Its reputation for outstanding academic achievement is known national-wide and reflects the intellectual achievement of its students, as well as alumni.

Technological University (Thanlyin) is endorsed by external reviewers of learning and teaching, such as ISO, Engineering Education Accreditation Committee (Myanmar Engineering Council) and AUN-QA. These good standards are the result of both the learning opportunities offered at TU (Thanlyin) and its good resources, including library, laboratories, dormitories and other facilities.

Teaching methods consist not only of lectures, seminars and practical classes led by people who are experts in their field, but also more personalized teaching arranged through the Technological Universities. Through Engineering Education we teach our students to lead lives of meaning and value as a way to contribute positively to our nation.

We will build a strong network with academic institutions and industries with common goals from local and international, and collaborate to promote initiatives. In addition, we will promote digital innovation throughout education, research and administration in order to be digital campus. We aim to improve the capacity building of university year by year.

We will try Technological University (Thanlyin) to be a place of learning where all engineering students from around the country would like to study. We hope that students will immerse themselves in a wide range of educational opportunities and nurture rich character as individuals for a fulfilling university student life.
